University Assistant Syllabus 2019: Kerala PSC has released University Assistant notification for 2019. The notification has been released on the official website @keralapsc.gov.in, for recruiting Assistants in 13 Universities. Only degree holders can apply for University Assistant post. B. Tech and B.Sc Nursing candidates can also apply. Final year students are not eligible to apply. The age limit is 18 to 36, usual age relaxation for SC/ST and OBC candidates.

Interested and eligible candidates may apply through Kerala PSC one time profile. More than six lakhs applications are expecting for this year University Assistant exam. Last time 5,41,823 candidates were applied for this examination.
This is the second time notification for University Assistant exam. First time notification was published in 2015. The rank list of University Assistant 2015 exam still exists. From the list, 1876 candidates have received the appointment. The validity of the rank list up to 09.08.2019. As per the new notification University Assistant rank list will come to valid from 10.09.2019. The initial salary package is Rs. 34,000. As per the new notification University Assistant ranked List will be in force in 10.08.2019. Current salary scale of University Assistant is 27,800 to 59,400. Initial salary would be Rs. 34,370 [Basic pay Rs.27,800 and with 15% DA (Rs.4170), Rs. 2000 as HRA and Rs.400/ CC (only for city)]. Voluntary Pension Scheme Basic and DA combined 10% (Rs 3197) will be deducted.

Opportunity in 13 Universities
Kerala PSC will advice to appoint the candidates from the rank list to 13 universities in the state. Candidates can not choose the preferred university. Appointment will be made on the basis of vacancies are reported. By subject to certain conditions, candidates can move from one university to another.

Kerala University, MG University, Calicut University, Kannur University, Agricultural University, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), National University of Advanced Legal Studies, University of Health Sciences, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University.
From Assistant to Joint Registrar
The scope of promotion of Assistant in various universities and they can catch the position up to the Joint Registrar through the departmental tests.
University Assistant > Senior Grade Assistant > Selection Grade Assistant > Section Officer > Assistant Registrar > Deputy Registrar > Joint Registrar and so on. This is the promotional process of Assistant post in various universities. Candidates have two years of probation period. In Veterinary universities candidates will get promotion as Selection Grade Assistant when they completed their probation period. Those who are appointed in universities like Kerala will have to wait a bit longer.
The University Assistant exam within six months
Kerala PSC officials said that Assistant Exam will conduct within six months. The exam may be in April or May. 1 hour 15 minutes OMR based exam will conduct for University Assistant. First, PSC has planned to conduct two exams [Preliminary and Main] for that, but they canceled the decision. There has 10 topics for University Assistant exam. Will ask 10 questions from each topics. There will be 10 questions related to Malayalam language. Minority Language Community can get the questions in Tamil / Kannada (Regional language topic) languages. The main topics of syllabus are:

Scope of appointment over 1000+ candidates
Around 1000+ candidates may get appointment from the rank list. More than 2,000 people are expected to be recruited from the previous rank list. Current rank list will be expired on 09.08.2019. This is the first list prepared by PSC for university assistant post. So that they are considering to recruit 2000 candidates. The current rank list details as below:
